Press Release: Ellis County Announces Economic Relief Grant (ERG) For Qualifying Ellis County Groups

From the Office of Ellis County Judge Todd Little

On Tuesday, June 30, The Ellis County Commissioners’ Court approved the authorization for County Judge Todd Little to sign the certification form of the Coronavirus Relief Fund (CRF) under the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) act in the amount of $3,460,930.00. This funding has supported Ellis County and associated jurisdictions in COVID-19 mitigation efforts.

To reduce the burdens on Ellis County citizens and kickstart immediate economic recovery, on Tuesday, September 22, the Commissioners’ Court approved the formation of a citizen comprised committee to review and allocate $1 million of relief funds in the form of grants to three qualifying groups throughout Ellis County. These groups include Healthcare Facilities, Nonprofits & Social Service Agencies, and Small Businesses of less than 50 employees.

As of Today, Ellis County proudly announces the launch of the Ellis County Economic Relief Grant (ERG). The following grant has been established as a partnership between county government, healthcare agencies, nonprofits/social service agencies, and local small businesses to assist in the fight against the effects of COVID-19. This grant is intended to further stimulate local economic recovery, reduce unemployment, and assist qualifying groups by providing additional financial resources to entities across the Ellis County economy.

“We are living in extraordinary times. The COVID-19 response has caused organizations across the county to act swiftly and expand their capacity of services while only receiving a limited supply of funding. This community truly is one to be celebrated. Since the beginning of this battle against COVID-19, we have seen neighbors working hand in hand to ensure the future success of our home. Today, we join together as one to bring financial support to our local economy; to include our healthcare partners, nonprofits/social service agencies, and local small businesses to empower the livelihoods of Ellis County residents.” Ellis County Judge Todd Little

ERG is now accepting applications through January 8, 2021. Residents can download the ERG Booklet to find more information on the grant and how to apply. For additional resources and information visit co.ellis.tx.us/ERG .
