A dvocacy Overview

The Legislative Committee of the Midlothian Chamber of Commerce exists to represent the voice of the business community in legislative and regulatory matters at the local, state and federal levels. Through proactive advocacy and policy engagement, the committee works to ensure a business-friendly environment that supports economic growth, job creation and the long-term prosperity of Midlothian.

Core Objectives

Core objectives of the Legislative Committee of the Midlothian Chamber of Commerce are:

  • Monitor legislation and regulatory issues impacting businesses
  • Serve as a liaison between Chamber members and elected officials
  • Develop and recommend the Chamber’s policy positions
  • Organize legislative events, candidate forums, and advocacy initiatives
  • Educate members on key issues through alerts, forums, and briefings

Member Engagement & Input

Chamber members are encouraged to participate in the legislative process by:

  • Attending committee meetings and policy briefings
  • Submitting issues or concerns through the Chamber’s Legislative Support Request Form
  • Sharing feedback on proposed legislative positions
  • Contacting elected officials on behalf of the business community

You can submit your concern directly to the Chamber using our online Legislative Support Request Form, which is reviewed by the committee and Chamber leadership. This tool ensures that member concerns are formally tracked, evaluated, and – when appropriate – acted upon.
